Make Your Morning a Sacred Ritual

I had let my own personal development go for years.  Boy, oh boy, I did not know what I was in for once I put my inner development first. And took it seriously.

SO, #fiercegirl – put yourself first! No one else will. You’ve gotta take control over what you, yourself can OFFER to your own development. And it won’t cost you a dime.

Shall we?

We forget that we get to create our own optimal development training program for ourselves every single day. We get to write the curriculum, to get us inspired, energized and aware. To give us knowledge and to give us the confidence to apply it to what matters to us most. That, to me is the real deal behind this small “hack”…

Once we make a decision to walk towards something we are passionate about, something we may forget ourselves doing- we know we need support, energy and inner clarity to keep walking that way, and by default to keep walking away and releasing all of the things we thought we needed, and we THOUGHT made up what we are.

I am a self-proclaimed bio-hacker, which basically means that the pursuit of physical and inner well-being paired with optimal performance techniques and #lifehacks are a passion of mine.

I have crafted the following technique to Jump Start your ENGINE in the morning- with ease, love, simplicity and connection to ourselves. I modeled it on Hal Elrod’s wonderful “MIRACLE Morning,” and adapted to my own inspiration and timetable.

Many of the world’s leaders and shakers have a routine to get them to THAT place each day, a place from which they can really use their gifts and feel a flow of energy and purpose.
Richard Branson… anyone?

It may be ANYTHING – and so it is extremely adaptable.
Feel free to add, or modify the times and the sequence.
Just find what works for you!

Add one element at a time – to really feel like you are creating one new habit at a time.
Or, if you are an all or nothing gal – GO FOR IT! You can’t lose at this game.

Magic Ritual Instructions:

Wake up an hour earlier than usual. Trust me it’s worth it. Go to bed an hour earlier that day.
Again, be sure to experiment.

My clients and I usually adapt this to suit their talents, motivation level, schedule and needs, and I feel like the more unique the Magic Ritual will become, the more you will stick to it – because it will WORK!

1. Wake up at 7AM

– Have a glass of water with lemon.
– Make your bed

2. Arrange a mat and pillow on the floor 

Practice ANY Meditation you please. It is never late to start to meditate, it you do not already have a practice, and it is so much fun to just let yourself start your day with stillness, gratitude and letting go of your thoughts.

Notice your thoughts, your breathing. Add a mantra – of that works for you: I suggest mediating for 15-20 minutes to start repeating the Mantra: I AM POWERFUL, I AM GRATEFUL.

Those words already mean you are loving and kind and passionate. If you need to set a timer so you have an idea of when you need to come out of the mediation. It may seem fast, but I once sat there for an hour…and it seemed like 10 minutes. Yup. If you have somewhere to be, make sure you have a small alarm.

3. Open your eyes. 

Spend  15-20 minutes visualizing yourself as you want yourself to live. Every detail, every feeling. Choose your clothes, the tone of your skin, really feel yourself. Imagine your dream house, the room you sleep in, you family, you work. In detail. Speak up as you visualize it. You can lie on your bed or you can look out the window,  just do it with relish, really feel yourself breathing as you see your new life around you. Enjoy this. Daydream with specificity, and focus on how YOU FEEL.
You may find that something you thought you wanted does not make you feel excited. GREAT! Discard that “idea”, and replace it with a detailed one that does make you feel excited to be YOU! Your life is awesome.

4. Once 15-20 minutes have passed, settle in in your favorite armchair or sofa and read 10 pages of anything you want. Preferably a book you have been meaning to start. This will be your morning book. Read the 10 pages… Read more if you wish.

Here are some optional, but super awesome additions:

Shake it out: do some stretches as you are waiting for the water to boil for your coffee☺) Or some jumping jacks- anything to get your blood flowing- I usually do 10 minutes of yoga.

5. Get up and make yourself a cup of tea or coffee.

DO it mindfully and enjoy smelling it, tasting it. Take your cup to the table and open up a notebook –or your computer- and start a Morning Journal. Now- just write. Whatever comes to your mind. Really, if all you can muster is “I do not know what to write” that’s perfect. Go on to jot down thoughts of something you have been obsessing over, or your intentions for the day. Write about how you feel after you “magic morning routine” Describe what you have seen in your visualization. Anything goes! Just write as long as you feel like it. The more you do this, the more you will enjoy it!

Yay!! You are done☺ Time to get you some breakfast… or more coffee? And start you magical day!

Try this out for 10 days. Really commit to doing the 5 steps – see it as a training program. Let yourself feel nourished and loved- because you are giving yourself that time and structure to really connect with yourself and create something new through it.
Whenever you feel overwhelmed or tired, you can just do this magic morning the next day. It should not be a chore.

I hope you try it out!

Again, be sure to experiment. Even if you only do 2 or 3 things for yourself- it is 2 or 3 times better than not.

Start with one.
