Kristy Marshall

Meet Kristy Marshall, Money Coach and Founder of Money Bliss. Kristy has a passion to help others – specifically anyone who deals with money.  As a wife and mom, Kristy understands the daily struggles with money and joys of life with kids! Her professional background is in financial services and marketing. She earned her a B.S. in Business Administration with a concentration in marketing from Colorado State University and her MBA from the Daniels College of Business at the University of Denver. Kristy and her husband paid off $53,000 in student loan debt in one year.  Through her journey, she has become aware of certain areas of struggles that typically center around money and wants to help others overcome them!

When did you first learn about your field of work? What called you to it?

After graduating with my MBA, I worked at a wealth management/financial planning office.  I was able to see many facets of how money is handled vs. how money should be handled plus all of the legal and tax complications.  After my husband and I paid off $53,000 in student loan debt in one year.  I had many questions on how we did it.  Before I knew it, I was answering questions here and there in regards to money – how to pay off debt, how to save money, how to cut the grocery budget, how to teach kids about money. etc.  I even got a couple of speaking engagements (before I even considered launching a business).

My kids were getting older and I knew I wanted to find that perfect job.  My search for the perfect job solidified my decision to start my own company.  (Read the full story here (  A money coach is a relatively new field.  But for me, it is what I am passionate about – helping others enjoy their life with money.

What resources would you recommend to someone starting a business?

First, make sure you will love your business idea (and I mean LOVE). You will be spending a lot of time, energy, and money developing your business.  Second, I would reach out to friends and family who have started their own business and ask for tips.  These people will know you best and will provide the best guidance. Lastly, join networking groups (online and in-person), but don’t spend so much time networking that you aren’t able to focus on your business.

What is the biggest overall lesson you learned in launching Money Bliss?

Social media.  We are a very private family and had a limited social media presence.  Since launching Money Bliss, I needed to update my social profiles with my photo.  It seems small, but it was a huge transition for me.

What one piece of advice would you give to someone who is launching their own business?

Create a business plan (even a bullet list) with a vision of where you want your business to grow (3 months, 6 months, 1 year, 3 year).  When starting out, you want to do everything all at once.  It just is not feasible. Sticking to your business plan will help sort through all of the distractions . Also, make sure you include a list of expected business expenses and double that number.

What does success mean to you?

Success to me means I have impacted another person. I know this may sound crazy from a money coach, but success is not defined monetarily.  Success is defined by the life we live and our experiences.

What is your personal or professional motto and why?

Life is a gift to enjoy; enjoy what you have been given to the fullest.
Many times, we go from one thing to the next without breathing let alone enjoying our life.  It is that moment when I need to step back and remember my motto.
