Krista Hartman, She is Fierce! Contributor

Krista Hartman

Krista Hartman has tried countless times to run from the call to create music, but her inner voice continues to prevail. Hartman has surrendered and is on the brink of releasing her third record, Constellations produced by one of Canada’s most acclaimed producers, Dean Drouillard (who is well-known for producing with Royal Wood).

It has been over six years since Hartman’s last release, Nostalgia: “I decided it was time to become a mother in addition to being a solo artist, teacher and a traveller. I have been on hiatus in The Caribbean and The US, travelling back and forth from Canada; the past six years have been creatively brilliant.

“Over the past few years, I was able to perform on National Television in St.Lucia with a Caribbean country and Western Band, record some demos with a bunch of Rastafarians, and I have played a series of live shows in Chicago. I love collaborating with others musically speaking.”

Slowly getting back on her feet with this upcoming record has been a learning curve “I resisted participating in social media for a long time. I like living in the present moment, but I realize the music industry is alive in cyber land and I best take part before I am disqualified by the music police. A few cool things have happened since I’ve embraced social media, it’s a gift.“

Hartman has experienced whirlwind of musical adventures —from busking on the streets of Australia, South East Asia and Canada to performing across Canada and the US both live and on national television (CBC News world).

Her career highlights include releasing records Nostalgia (2010), Midnight,(2010) and Passport (2005), performing her duet, “Broken in Two” with Ron Sexsmith, and appearing in the entertainment section of Toronto’s Globe and Mail after performing a melancholic bilingual roots version of the Canadian National Anthem in front of Canada’s Prime Minister in Toronto.
