The New You Action Plan for Entrepreneurs

The New You Action Plan!

The benefit of completing an action plan is that it enables you to gain clarity and get your thoughts and ideas in perspective.  It creates a platform on which to get started.

Taking action allows you to experience 3 benefits that you would not encounter otherwise:

  1. You commit

When you don’t take action it is easy to find an excuse to back out. Once you take action you become committed, you start to build momentum and you experience an increase in motivation.  Once you start something and see results, your desire to succeed grows stronger.

  1.  Learn from your experiences

Learning from your experiences, both positive and negative gives you greater knowledge and confidence. Once you take action, you achieve an outcome. Each outcome offers the opportunity to learn and takes you closer to achieving your goal.

  1. Other doors open

When you start to take action you realise there are many options available, you meet new people and are exposed to new situations that ultimately propel you closer toward achieving your goal.

I am passionate about:

My Why is (what drives me, what inspires me, why do I exist):

My business idea is:

My Unique Selling Proposition is:

Who is my ideal customer:

Resources/Training I might require:

Who are my support network (who shares my vision, who supports me):

Networking opportunities (what groups can I join, who can I connect with):

What areas of my life can I declutter (what can I delegate, what can I get help with, what services can I utilize):

What roadblocks might I encounter (by identifying potential stumbling blocks beforehand it can help you navigate more easily and more successfully around them):

How do I plan to make time to enable me to create change and build momentum (what are my priorities, what time management systems can I implement):

What days, how many hours can I commit each week to working on my business:

How will I celebrate milestones reached:

Having worked through each of the sections above, you will gain greater clarity about what you want, what drives and inspires you, and what you need to do to get started.

The role of clarity is to provide direction, it’s neither the journey nor is it the solution, it is simply a place to start.  Without clarity your actions will be random and your focus will be readily distracted. Once you clearly define what you want, what you need and what direction to head in, you then have something concrete to focus on.

Having clarity can be the difference between knowing what you would like and achieving what you want.  So before taking random actions, make the time to be crystal clear about what you are aiming for in order to set yourself up for the best chance of success.

She has over 18 years experience in sales, marketing and advertising, she climbed the corporate ladder and was committed to her career but her priorities changed when she had her children. Life became a struggle, trying to find a balance between wanting to retain her worth and independence in the workforce without compromising her ability to be a present and attentive mother.

Then, Susan made a terrifying leap – leaving a six figure income to no job and a big mortgage. With a very strong resolve never to go back to the corporate world, and through commitment, perseverance and a passion to succeed, she found as one door closed other doors opened. It was this journey that gave her the motivation and the drive to create an opportunity for other women who want to be in control, who value their independence, who want to be empowered. 3 Simple Steps to Living with Greater Mindfulness

The Steps to Greater Mindfulness

Last year I made the conscious decision to live with greater mindfulness, to not only focus on what I strive to achieve but to also appreciate what I already have.

I was on holiday recently, pottering in the shops which is a luxury for me these days with the juggle of motherhood and running a business, I stumbled across a book called the The Little Book of Mindfulness.  I took it as a sign…like any working mother I felt like a mouse running around a never-ending wheel.  Hurrying my children along to get dressed, to do their teeth, to get their shoes on whilst making lunches, packing bags, tidying up behind them all the while chasing them out the door so as not to be late…

Although appreciative of the luxury to work around my children I felt as though the weeks were passing me by and I wasn’t taking the time to reflect on the small things that I was truly grateful for, my focus was on what I wanted to achieve and I had forgotten to be grateful for what I already had…to appreciate the small things that matter.  A quote from my newly acquired book `these little moments are the true wonders of being alive. These glimpses of joy really matter, because they connect us to life rather than split us from it’ Dr Patrizia Collard

I’m giving myself the gift of learning to live in the moment a little bit more…I’ve learnt it doesn’t come naturally, it’s very easy to go through the day without acknowledgement if I don’t make the time.

Finding greater mindfulness to me is not about chanting mantras or meditating in the traditional sense, it’s simply about giving myself permission to appreciate life and be grateful…to do this I take time out for myself and the best way for me to achieve this is to go for a run, just my dog and I.

I’ve found that by implementing greater mindfulness into my everyday life enriches not only my mind but also my body and soul.  I don’t profess to be an expect and do not practise in this field, this is simply what I do and how I’ve been able to achieve greater mindfulness…

  1. Find a quiet place.

Sit, stand or run (whichever feels most natural) in silence and pause the thoughts that are rushing through your head. Focus your mind on the present moment.

  1. Take a deep breath and relax.

Be aware of your surroundings to reduce distractions and remove yourself from your own busyness.

  1. Consider gratitude.

Recognize all the things around you, take time to reflect on everything in your life that is good, those things that you may take for granted and be thankful, be appreciative, be grateful.

For me running is simply an opportunity to take time out for myself, to remove myself temporarily from my mummy and work duties; away from the chime of my phone, the little hands that reach out to me, the voices that want my attention.  It provides the chance to clear my mind, to reflect, to create clarity in my thoughts and feelings…I feel energised and calm, I return with a spring in my step and a smile on my face, I’m ready to make the most of another day.

4 Keys to Living a Stimulating Life

4 Keys to Generating a Stimulating Life

Sometimes the first few months of a new year can be a little brutal, the future is still looking foggy but signs are showing up all around, showing that there is light at the end of the tunnel. Despite our efforts to a New Year, and being an overachiever we tend to find ourselves wondering about how we will use these 365 days to start living our life to the fullest.

It is time to reinvent, rebrand and make a new relationship with self, with time and get it together. I’ve come to realize that the secret to spiritual success in this transformational world is about shifting our mental thinking into infusing our intuitive powers. All while combining kick A$$ action and creative thinking in order to implement the turbo- growth we are seeking.

1. Time is what it is, so we might as well be present.

Embrace the moments that we have wholeheartedly and practice being present. If we spend our time reviewing all of the things in our day that are truly an asset, lots can be done to discern what we are spending our time & energy on. The moment we begin to give ourselves an excuse for not having enough time, is the moment we need to realize that “We have the same number of hours in our day as Beyoncé,” it’s time to seize the moment & be fabulous inside & out.

If there is a drive within us, to be a smart-working, intelligent and dedicated folks, then we need to better utilize time, get some good momentum and make the best of things. We can transcend our excuses to the moon my dear.

2. Reinvest in yourself.

The best investment anyone could ever make is in yourself. It’s time to take a serious internal inventory on what is lacking in our life & see where we need to call in our spiritual mentor, success coach or guru. Things can get dull very quickly, especially in this fast pace world that we live in. It doesn’t take much time to google, YouTube or Facebook some great mentors who are a genius at what they do. Investing in self can mean financial, physical, emotional and spiritual well-being. Investing is about the pursuit of learning, applying and stepping out of ego & asking for guidance when needed.

I also believe that it is critically important to spoil ourselves to a healthy extreme in order to reward working smart and avoid burnout. There is nothing wrong with being mindful in on splurging, and making a special moment a memorable experiences. It is truly about enjoying the luxury of life by doing something as simple as meditating or spending time in nature. There is nothing wrong with finding mindful ways to enhance our lifestyle. I tend to treat myself to a decadent healthy meal, fresh juice from my favorite juicing bar or getting a reiki massage, and it is one of the best productive activities to lift my vibrations.

3. Avoid the heffa who killed our vibe.

Put the vampires in check! There is nothing like trying to do something positive and getting the energy sucked out of us by being around or in an unhealthy environment. UMMMM.. It is time to get new and tell that he/she we are not in the mood for killing any of our good vibes. It is always best to take inventory of our peeps in order to reserve our mental, emotional and spiritual resources. NO BODY ANT GOT TIME FOR THAT! Conserve the POWERS by making soulful decisions as quickly as possible and asserting thyself. Do not allow others to make guilt or shame apart of our self-worth.

4. Go Big or Go Home.

One thing that I absolutely cannot stand is someone filled with a bunch of low vibes EXCUSES. We have one life to live and it is not the time to start playing it small every second of the day, being our own worst enemy, letting ego control our every move & watching others get success in the simplest ways while we are flying in the wind. Honey, use that wind to set sail and accelerate fabulousity. HELLO, GO BIG or GO HOME!

What do we have to loose in starting every morning by asking ourselves, “Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, and fabulous? Actually, who are you not to be?” like Marianne Williamson, so boldly put. Everyone holds the inherent power to achieve magnificent goals and anchor some serious achievement. Be mindful and diligent while embracing our path, do not take NO for an answer, and say YES. If that retreat you’ve always wanted to take is nagging at you, then it is probably time to nurture ourselves and follow our intuition.

Apps That Will Help You Get Things Done!

Apps That Will Help You Get Things Done!

Trying to buckle down and get a better grip on our productivity, finances, and schedules?  Thanks to these apps, things seem like they could be a little more manageable.
Here are five apps we have found to get you moving in the right direction…
21Habit App

You know that new work habit you’ve repeatedly put off trying to master? Well, now you have a monetary incentive to get moving on it! To begin this make or break habit app, 21Habit requires you to hash out $21 dollars, and for each day you succeed with your respective new habit, you’ll get one dollar back! However, if you miss a day, you’ll lose a dollar, and if the habit-making falls to the way-side, all of the money will be given to charity. Sustained productivity always seems to be best executed with a little incentive!

If you find yourself continually frustrated by your scattered work station, give Evernote a try. The app brings all of your work to one place and syncs between all of your devices so that you can access it wherever you want! No more excuses for not having your work with you or not knowing where it is.

Letterspace App  Letterspace App

The iPhone note app always seems to be a good in-the-moment go-to for note-taking, but after a few hours, or days even, it’s hard trying to find those small, important bits of information you had quickly jotted down. Luckily, now there’s a different app that helps you more efficiently sort back through those important (and undoubtedly cryptic) messages you write yourself throughout the day: Letterspace. With the usage of the #hashtag and @mention, Letterspace indexes and organizes your notes based on the symbols, making it much easier to find the information you are looking for.

Zippy App  Zippy App

Alright, so now you are probably thinking that this list has covered all the main bits possible in a productivity app — you’re wrong! Zippy dives into the nuts and bolts of your productivity. With some pretty graphics, the app charts out how often and when you succeed with the tasks you had previously set for yourself, giving you deeper insight as to how you might better tackle your responsibilities. Additionally, it breaks down what time of the day you’re most productive, which tasks you repeatedly snooze, and how far ahead of time you complete things. It’s time to finally face the cold hard facts and see what you are good at and when!

Finding Confidence In The Face Of Uncertainty

Finding Confidence in the Face of Uncertainty

Uncertainty oftentimes feels unsettling and uncomfortable. Whether it’s ambiguity about your next career move, where you want to live or how you want to spend your time, indecision can strip you of your confidence and cause you to doubt your abilities, talents and self-worth.

While it’s important to keep a positive attitude as you sift through uneasy times, we all know that it can be difficult. Someone telling you to smile and cheer up isn’t really what you want to hear when you’re struggling just to keep your head above water. What does work, is building the necessary skill set that will allow you to manage your racing thoughts and impulsive actions when times get tough. I’ve outlined tips that will keep your thoughts in line, so you can turn them into productive action with laser focused energy.

Set A Daily Intention

The act of setting a daily intention is not hard, and telling yourself that you have no time to set one is just an excuse. What’s hard, is making it a habit to mindfully set an intention each morning. Once you get past the initial struggles of remembering to set your intention, you’ll see what a difference it makes in your life, and be on your way to a happier and healthier you.

For example, yesterday I set the intention to keep my focus on whatever it was I was doing or working on that day, and bring my attention back to the present moment when I veered off. And you know what, it worked! Because I started my day by intentionally setting and acknowledging a small goal, I was able to carry it out.

Exercise & Eat A Balanced Diet

It’s true that you can’t have a positive mind with a negative attitude, and it’s also true that you can’t have a positive mind with an unhealthy lifestyle. As much as you want to tell yourself that your to-do list is what’s going to get you on the right track and feeling better, it’s not. Sure, it’ll clear your schedule a bit, but it won’t nourish your mind and body. Daily exercise and eating a balanced diet is way too low on many people’s priority list. I bet that if you move it to the top of your list, your health will improve and so will everything else.

Surround Yourself With People Who Lift You Up

Negative vibes and people will bring you down, and if you’re not careful will spread like wildfire to other parts of your life. Surround yourself with it long enough, and eventually you’ll find yourself stuck in a downward spiral of negative thoughts and harmful behaviors. It takes intentional effort on your part to love yourself enough to distance yourself from people and things that aren’t doing you any good, and in fact could be harming your health. It’s worth the tough decisions and uncomfortable feelings that separating from old things and people may bring, in order to find everlasting peace and joy with your new surroundings.

Open Up

It amazes me how our culture and society can make it seem like everyone lives an amazing and lavish lifestyle and never has any problems. We all know this isn’t true, yet we get caught up in foolish assumptions and generalizations about how everyone out there has it so great but us. In turn, we end up putting on a brave face for the world and isolating ourselves from sharing and dealing with our problems.

We’d all be a lot happier and healthier if we were open and honest with each other and felt comfortable turning to one another for support. I’m going to say it just because many times we forget, but we’re all human and most of the time we’re dealing with similar struggles.

Be Mindful Of Your Own Judgement & Criticism

Our own self-talk is the very thing that can move us to do great things, and the very thing that can hold us back from ever reaching our full potential. Mindfulness teaches non-judgment of self and others and, unfortunately, that’s not always an easy task. We’re taught to judge and measure ourselves, others, our performance, our intelligence and our talents from a very young age.

If you get too caught up in the results and fall into a trap of constant comparison to others, you’ll find yourself quite unhappy. Love and respect for yourself comes from the inside, and only when you become your own cheerleader will you realize that whatever happens on the outside can’t, and will not, stop you from moving forward and following your dreams.

Clear Your Head

We all have so much going on each day that it can feel like we never have time for ourselves and are living in a constant state of chaos. This isn’t a healthy way to live and at some point your mind and body will tell you no. Whether it’s yoga, a long walk, meditating or reading, clearing your head is something you should do once, if not several times a day. Review my article, 5 Benefits Of A 3-Minute Mediation, to see the science behind how beneficial clearing your head is for you and your health.

These are just a few ideas that’ll help you get to where you’re going with confidence and strength. If you’re anything like me, when I’m feeling overwhelmed or confused about where to head next, it’s hard for me to just “try harder” or think happier thoughts. I need to have daily habits and skills in place I can use to keep a level-head and make me feel empowered to take action. I’d love to hear your thoughts in the comments section below!
