7 Golden Rules for Gorgeous Skin

All of us, no matter what age we are we all want gorgeous skin. Whatever we do will have an impact on our skin. When you’re up in the night studying- dark circles; weather changes – dry skin or sunburn; tried a new foundation- zit.

When it comes to getting healthy skin, it is easy to get confused about what to do especially with so much contradictory information available. So here are some of the basic skincare rules that everyone should know. Following these will help you to get closer to your skin goals.

Drink More Water

Drinking more water will have a positive impact on your skin and provide you with a radiant complexion. All the cells in our body are made up of water. When these cells do not get an adequate amount of water, they become dry, flaky and more prone to wrinkles.

When the skin is hydrated properly, it will look plump and minimize the appearance of wrinkles. So give your skin a steady flow of water. Drink a minimum of 8 glasses of water every day and spread it throughout the day instead of drinking it all at once.

Follow a Nutritious Diet

More than half of what we eat directly nourishes our skin. So what we eat does affect how we look. So make sure you have food that has vitamins, minerals, iron and other essential nutrients. Overall a balanced diet is recommended. Also, consume vegetables like carrot daily as they have beta-carotene which supports the production of collagen.

Skin experts believe that dairy products can worsen hormonal imbalances and can aggravate skin problems such acne and pigmentation. So cut down dairy products and find other sources like spinach to get enough calcium intake. Plus, limit the consumption of white food as they have low nutritional value and can even shoot up your stress hormones. Furthermore, avoid smoking completely and limit your alcohol intake as well.

Take a look at this infographic which states the importance of vitamins for younger and healthier skin.

Limit Your Caffeine Intake

Caffeine is used by millions of people around the world to improve concentration and to relieve exhaustion. If you drink more than 4 cups of coffee a day, you may experience side effects such as nervousness, irritability, upset stomach, and muscle tremors.

Plus they interfere with your sleep and make you sleep deprived which can lead to other major problems like obesity, diabetes, anger, dark circles, and dehydrated complexion. And, the caffeine in coffee can dry out the skin. So no matter how much you moisturize, it can lead to dryness. So drink no more than 1 cup daily.

Exercise

Exercising is not only to stay fit but also for healthy and glowing skin. When you’re getting your heart rate up from aerobic or cardio exercises, you’re supplying an ample dose of oxygenated blood to your skin which will give you a rosy glow. Regular exercise will balance the stress-related hormones in your body which can delay the signs of aging and help in the production of collagen.

Sweating clears out your pores and relieves you from common problems like acne. After your workout is over, make sure you wipe your face with a fragrance-free cleansing wipe. Most importantly avoid exercising with makeup on.

Exfoliate

Your skin protects you from dust and other external particles. Although most of the dead skin cells are shed by themselves, some remain on the skin which can lead to clogged pores and breakouts. So you must exfoliate your skin regularly to discard those dead skin cells.

Plus, over exfoliating will also result in excessive dryness and redness. So do not exfoliate more than twice a week. Before you buy exfoliators, chose one which will be suitable for your skin type. Also, check out fixyourskin.com to know about exfoliating products for acne prone skin.

Moisturize

Everyone knows that moisturizing the skin is important as it makes the skin healthier. Here are some of the effects not moisturizing your skin.

It could develop more wrinkles and worsen the ones you already have.

    It aggravates your acne.

    It makes your skin itchy.

It makes you look dull and flaky.

    Your makeup won’t look flawless.

So even if you have oily skin, moisturizing is compulsory and look for moisturizers that are oil free. When purchasing a moisturizer look for ingredients such as hyaluronic acid and glycerin in not just lotions but also in cleansing bars, body washes, and even deodorants.

Sunscreen

The Sun emits UVB and UVA rays which make your skin age quickly. And depending on the severity of the UVB rays it can tan or burn your skin. So get a broad spectrum sunscreen which will protect you from both the rays and the SPF factor can rate how well it can protect your skin. Also, you need an ounce of sunscreen to protect your skin, so be generous while applying. Don’t forget to use sunscreen on your ears, neck and feet as well. Apply sunscreen 15 minutes before you go outside so that the skin can fully absorb the properties in the cream you use.

Sometimes late night outings, studying and the stress of a demanding job could take a toll on your skin. To make your skin clear and healthy, it requires daily care. Moreover, the science of skincare isn’t that complicated. So follow the above steps daily to get gorgeous skin.
