The New You Action Plan!

The benefit of completing an action plan is that it enables you to gain clarity and get your thoughts and ideas in perspective.  It creates a platform on which to get started.

Taking action allows you to experience 3 benefits that you would not encounter otherwise:

  1. You commit

When you don’t take action it is easy to find an excuse to back out. Once you take action you become committed, you start to build momentum and you experience an increase in motivation.  Once you start something and see results, your desire to succeed grows stronger.

  1.  Learn from your experiences

Learning from your experiences, both positive and negative gives you greater knowledge and confidence. Once you take action, you achieve an outcome. Each outcome offers the opportunity to learn and takes you closer to achieving your goal.

  1. Other doors open

When you start to take action you realise there are many options available, you meet new people and are exposed to new situations that ultimately propel you closer toward achieving your goal.

I am passionate about:

My Why is (what drives me, what inspires me, why do I exist):

My business idea is:

My Unique Selling Proposition is:

Who is my ideal customer:

Resources/Training I might require:

Who are my support network (who shares my vision, who supports me):

Networking opportunities (what groups can I join, who can I connect with):

What areas of my life can I declutter (what can I delegate, what can I get help with, what services can I utilize):

What roadblocks might I encounter (by identifying potential stumbling blocks beforehand it can help you navigate more easily and more successfully around them):

How do I plan to make time to enable me to create change and build momentum (what are my priorities, what time management systems can I implement):

What days, how many hours can I commit each week to working on my business:

How will I celebrate milestones reached:

Having worked through each of the sections above, you will gain greater clarity about what you want, what drives and inspires you, and what you need to do to get started.

The role of clarity is to provide direction, it’s neither the journey nor is it the solution, it is simply a place to start.  Without clarity your actions will be random and your focus will be readily distracted. Once you clearly define what you want, what you need and what direction to head in, you then have something concrete to focus on.

Having clarity can be the difference between knowing what you would like and achieving what you want.  So before taking random actions, make the time to be crystal clear about what you are aiming for in order to set yourself up for the best chance of success.

Susan StevensSusan Stevens is the founder of New Zealand-based Meme & Co, a jewelry and accessories company with an innovative, woman-centered business model. She has over 18 years experience in sales, marketing and advertising, she climbed the corporate ladder and was committed to her career but her priorities changed when she had her children. Life became a struggle, trying to find a balance between wanting to retain her worth and independence in the workforce without compromising her ability to be a present and attentive mother.

Then, Susan made a terrifying leap – leaving a six figure income to no job and a big mortgage. With a very strong resolve never to go back to the corporate world, and through commitment, perseverance and a passion to succeed, she found as one door closed other doors opened. It was this journey that gave her the motivation and the drive to create an opportunity for other women who want to be in control, who value their independence, who want to be empowered. Her drive to keep a balance between work and family life ultimately resulted in `taking a leap’ into the unknown and embarking on a personal journey of self reflection, new challenges and growth.
