Woman Running

The only limits you face are the ones you set before yourself, choose to be limitless.

As women, we are fortunate to live in a time in society where we have an abundance of choices and opportunities. The hard part, is stepping out of your comfort zone.

I have two beautiful young children.  They are the loves of my life, the snap in my step, the gleam in my eye; they also were the cause of some extra weight on my thighs.  Back in 2011, I wasn’t feeling very good about my body image.  I wasn’t happy when I looked in the mirror and my self-esteem suffered because of it.  I decided it was time to change that.  I stumbled upon Tosca Reno’s Eat Clean Diet, and began making some healthy diet changes.  As the pounds began to melt away, I had more energy, and felt ready to push myself against my limits and chose to take up running.

A born runner I was not. I’m goal driven so before I even stepped foot on the pavement, I signed myself up for a local 5K with only 6 weeks to get ready.  I followed the Couch to 5K program and six weeks later when it was time for the race, I was ready, just barely, but ready.  I ran, I sweat, I nearly wet my lululemon running skirt, but I did it, and wow, was I ever out of my comfort zone and it felt amazing.

One month later I ran a 5K in the Canada Army Run in Ottawa, Ontario.  By this time, running felt like second nature and the adrenaline was incredible.  Never had I felt so alive. I had finally accomplished something out of my comfort zone that I could be proud of, something that was just for me and no one else.

I submitted my story about my weight loss and new and exciting journey with health and fitness to Tosca Reno’s website and was selected to be a featured success story.   Believe it, and you can achieve it!

My fitness journey did not end there.  I have continued to live a healthy lifestyle and maintain a healthy weight and body that I am proud of.  I have recently joined a local gym where I am now learning how to weight lift.  My long term goal is to compete in a fitness competition in the fall of 2016.

Taking control of my health not only made me feel better about my body image, but it also allowed me to get back to the super positive person I had been. Taking care of my health has also set a positive example for my children to whom I can only hope that I am the best role model I can be.   When you lose control of your health, it affects more than your waistline.  If you’re not comfortable with your body image, it also affects the way you feel inside.  There will be bumps in the road, but you have the start of each new day to begin again.

We all have the ability to reach beyond our limits and live a life we love and can be proud of. The choice is yours.  I choose to take it to the limit, and fortunately, I am limitless.
